Initial Preparations

It's somehow already June 29th, meaning we leave for Europe in just slightly over two months. Our exact dates are September 3rd - December 16th, flying in to Vienna and out of Istanbul. I'm not sure that I fully have a handle on the immensity of this trip yet, and am trying to just take it step by step. Right now there's nice weather in Portland and we're trying to enjoy the summer - my first summer staying here. A bit of planning every few days has been helping build the excitement level though, which seems to be on a steady incline. We've been scoping out potential farms, sort of making a basic outline for the trip. Our first farm will probably be in northern Italy during the last few weeks of September, after spending a week or so in Austria and about ten days in Croatia. Then on to Rome, more exploring throughout Italy, and likely another farmstay on either Sardinia or Sicily before heading to Greece. I haven't thought in too much detail about an itinerary for Greece and Turkey though, and would be happy to have suggestions from people more informed than myself about what to do and where to go. Of course Alex knows all there is to know about the ancient sites and their remains, which will likely help us to track a course. In terms of new and exciting though, input would be quite helpful.
Well, for now it's time to return to the joys of Portland summer...
